Dooflicky Machine
© 2002 Mark WeaklandIt showed up one Monday morning in front of City Hall
Taller than a high rise building, it made Tyrannosaurus Rex look small
It was a hunk of junk it was metal mess It defied description I confess
When they asked me what it was, I took a guess I said, "It's a Dooflicky Machine!"
It blew smoke like a stack of chimneys It smelled worse than an old tennis shoe
It wobbled like a Jell-O Frisbee It buzzed like a crazy kazoo
It had a steering wheel and an airplane wing At the tippy-top was a blob-like THING!
When they asked me what it was I began to sing I sang, "It's a Dooflicky Machine"
It had a spinning thingamajigger stuck to its underside
It had chromium watchamacallit that was more than 10 feet wide
It had a thingamabob and a thingamadoo stuck to its side with Elmer's Glue
It was a Whizbangwow Dooflicky Machine rollin’ down the avenue
There was a whirling, twirling whatsit that made a bird-like "chirp"
There was a weirdly wobbling widgit that let out an enormous "burp"
It was purple and green sometimes it was blue
It was knobby and hairy like an old kangaroo
When I saw it there I instantly knew I yelled, " It's a Dooflicky Machine! " CHORUS
The children all adored it; the teenagers thought it was cool
The army gave it some medals, the principal made it stay after school
It rolled and lurched, it was lean and mean. Some parts were dirty but most were clean
It jiggled and it jumped like a Mexican bean
It was an incredible, unbelievable, utterly bombastic, amazing and fantastic Dooflicky Machine CHORUS
I Sure Love Pancakes © Mark Weakland 1995
Ooo boy I sure love pancakes Mmmm hmmm I 'll have another
Ooo boy I sure love pancakes Won't you please pass the syrup and the butter
Ooo Boy I sure love pancakes When I'm blue they pick me up.
Ooo boy, I sure love pancakes Won't you please pass the butter and the syrup
I want Blueberry pancakes, strawberry pancakes, pancakes with chocolate chips
Pancakes with butter? I’ll have another! Just lay them at my fingertips
Pancakes in the morning pancakes in the evening pancakes in the afternoon
You can eat 'em in a plane, in a car or a train You can eat them in a hot air balloon
I want pancakes and ham, pancakes with spam, pancakes with bacon and eggs
Pancakes make me sigh and holler and cry Pancakes make me get down and beg...
Please… won't you make me just one more pancake? REFRAIN
Griddle cakes, Johnny Cakes, put em on the stove to bake
Heap them in the middle of my plate
I don't want a waffle, a crepe would be awful, just build me a stack of those pancakes
Give me buckwheat pancakes, cornmeal pancakes, pancakes with bacon on the side
Big ones, small ones, the low-cholesterol ones Bring on every taste and size
Pancakes and ham, pancakes with spam, pancakes with scrambled eggs
Pancakes make me sigh and holler and cry Pancakes make me get down and beg...
Please, oh pretty please May I have just one more pancake? Refrain
I’m a Slug
© 2002 Mark WeaklandI’m a slug and I’m slow I’ve got nowhere to go
I’m just inching along by the hour
I have a good time slowly trailing some slime
As I crawl among the leaves and the flowers
I’m a slug and I’m slow, but that’s the best way to go I never scramble or scurry
I’m just inchin’ a long, singin’ a song Life is too precious to hurry
Oh when some see a slug they scrunch up their mugs
They find me uglier than a big bug on the rug
But others gaze down on me and they love what they see
A soft gastropod who looks a bit odd
Slow down, take your time Stop and dream a lazy daydream
Leave a little trail of slime Ah, so fine! Refrain

Baby Billy (
c) 2002 Mark WeaklandThree years ago when I was born I took the world by sudden storm
In life's kid contest, I took the prize I was the apple of my parent's eyes
I sure was cute, I laughed a lot I was a charming and cherubic little tot
I had zip and vim and vigor, I had pluck But then one cataclysmic day, disaster struck!
Oh, my mom had a baby and its name was Billy It cried and spit up milk
Its head was enormous its face was puckered But its butt was smooth as silk
I thought it ugly as can be but my parents were in ecstasy
Now no one even looks as me because of baby Billy
Yes my mom had a baby and its name was Billy It peed on our brand new couch
Though not real clever, it was here for forever And that made me a grouchy grouch
My mom and dad sure were proud but I just had to yell out loud
"Please take him back- four's a crowd" No I don't like baby Billy!
Three years ago when I was born My eyes were bright, my smile was warm
And as I grew my little life got better I danced and sang and learned to print my name in bright crayon letters
My mom and dad knew I was best I took the cake I passed the test
I was as happy as a little clam could be But then one day, catastrophe! CHORUS
You know its funny how things work out Sometimes you get a little rain amidst the drought
I learned to love that pudgy little lad He may be stinky, but he aint all bad
Yes, when you squint, he's kinda cute He's like a tiny monkey in a birthday suit
Time has been kind, he's lookin better I'm gonna teach him how to print his name in bright crayon letters
Oh, now I have a brother and his name is Billy, He cries and spits up milk
But he's got blue eys and hair like mine, Its fine as threads of silk
My mom and dad are proud of me 'cause I learned to love our new baby
Now there's four fine people in our family Because of Baby Billy Because of Baby Billy
Oh, I love you baby Billy (I love you, man!)
Take a Peepy Step
© Mark Weakland 1997When you first walked all by yourself, you started with a peepy step
Soon you were walking and running without any help because you started with a peepy step
Take a little step and you'll have a start You’ve go to put the horse before the cart
If you start out small, you'll end up big When you start with a peepy step
You take a peepy step…
Take a peepy step, take a peepy step each and every day
And after thirty-seven peepy steps, you'll be on your way
If you want to learn your abc's, start with a peepy step
If you want to learn to count backwards from three, start with a peepy step Refrain
When you learn to play an instrument, you start with a peepy step
If you're building a house from bricks and cement, you have to start with a peepy step Refrain
In this great big world with lots to see, it’s best to start with a peepy step
Soon you will become the best that you can be Refrain
Me and My Pillow © Mark Weakland 1995
Now I lay me down to sleep Under blankets I will creep
The blankets are so soft but they're not the best part
There's something else at bedtime that's closer to my heart
It's just me and my pillow All through the night until the morning
It's just me and my pillow Safe and sound until the morning
My pillow makes me want to sleep when I crawl into my bed
It keeps away the monsters and it holds my tired head (yawn)
I can throw it in the air (whoa!) and give it a good shake (brrrr!!)
It’s there when I’m asleep (snore) and it’s there when I first wake Refrain
I take my pillow on vacation and to my friends when I sleep over.
Its feel softer than a cloud (ahh) It smells sweeter (sniff) than fresh clover
A more comfortable companion has yet to be discovered
There are no better friends than a bed, my pillow (shout it) and some covers Refrain
Soft and stuffy Fat and fluffy Smooth and white It feels just right!
Big and plumpy Sometimes lumpy On a dark night It’s a de-light
All through the night until my sleeping ends
I’m with my dear old pillow My favorite bedtime friend Refrain
Good Night, Sleepy Head © Mark Weakland 2001
The sun has set The moon is bright Goodbye day Hello night
It’s time to sleep So off to bed Close your eyes Goodnight, sleepy head
Goodnight Goodnight Goodnight sleepy head
Goodnight Goodnight Close your eyes Goodnight, sleepy head
